The main components of Danshen are phenanthrene derivatives, including tanshinone 1, tanshinone II-A, tanshinone II-B, cryptotanshinone, danshensu, protocatechuic aldehyde, protocatechuic acid, etc. The content of tanshinone II-A is the quality control index of Salvia miltiorrhiza.

Extraction processing method

Salvia can be extracted with water, alcohol, etc. as a solvent, or by immersion or reflux, and finally, the extract is concentrated to dryness. For example, the yield of reflux extraction with 90% alcohol is about 3.5%.
