Alpinia katsumadai Hayata contains volatile oil, the main compounds are 1,8-cineole, farnesol, p-cymene, lupulene, β-butene, α-phellandrene, etc. The known non-volatile components include flavonoids, mainly alpinin (1.1%-1.5%) and Cardamonin (0.36%-0.93%).

Extraction processing method

Alpinia katsumadai Hayata can be steam distilled to prepare the volatile oil of cardamom, with a yield of about 0.85; the extract can be water, sprinkled, etc. as a solvent, extracted according to conventional methods, and then the extract is concentrated and dried.

Pharmacology
