Active ingredients
The main active ingredients of Acacia catechu are catechol compounds, including catechol, catechin, pyrocatechol, phlorizol, protocatechuic acid, quercetin, etc.;
Contains about 20.5% of catechin tannin; there are also several catecholamines.
Extraction processing method
Acacia catechu can be extracted by conventional methods using water, alcohol, etc. as solvents, and then the extract is concentrated to dryness. Taking 50% alcohol extraction as an example, the yield is 17.9%.
Pharmacology
The Acacia catechu extract has antibacterial effect. When the concentration of the water extract is 10μg/disc, the diameter of the inhibition zone against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli is 6mm and 8mm, respectively. The catechin extract has a coloring effect.
